"Communication skills between doctors and patients" is a course that integrates medical specialty, communication skills and knowledge about humanities, and is suitable for undergraduates, resident physicians and healthcare workers. It will talk about several practical skills applied in the communication between doctors and patients from such aspects as overview of the communication between doctors and patients, inquiry of medical history, various skills in the communication between doctors and patients, the communication between doctors and patients in outpatient and emergency departments, the communication between doctors and patients in wards, and the communication between doctors and patients with special conditions. It will also introduce how to prevent and handle various disputes between doctors and patients through case studies. The course is divided into several sections according to the specific contents and each section lasts 5 to 10 minutes. It will take on different forms by combining teaching and demonstration, as well as presenting cases and comments, to show the students common communication skills between doctors and patients in clinical practices from multiple perspectives. This course can help students master basic skills needed for the communication between doctors and patients and learn to apply them in different situations, so as to gain the understanding, trust and cooperation of patients and their family members, which will ultimately serve the purpose of creating a win-win situation between doctors and patients and improving the people’s health.
