The course is a designed elective course for undergraduates and graduate students majored in chemistry, especially their career planning on chemistry education in middle school. The main objective is to cultivate and foster the learners’ latent mindset and schema on understanding chemical substances, structures, constitutions and changes from microscopic perspective. The deeply destination is to develop the learners’ comprehension of chemical problems and issues from a whole disciplinary perspective.
The course is self-developed by our academic & teaching team. It is a 32 class-hours (2 credits) independent elective course for chemistry major in Northeast Normal University. Around 170 campus students take the course every year. The course is domestic initiative. Microscopic perspective in chemistry is demonstrated and the important functions are expounded. Moreover, how to analyze chemical problems and issues based on microscopic perspective is systematically presented. Through studying this course, it is more helpful to construct a mind map of microscopic perspective in chemistry, enhance the ability to integrate the learned knowledge and recognize the peculiarity of means and methods in handling chemical problems.
