Bridge engineering is a professional course in the direction of roads and bridges for civil engineering majors. This course focuses on explaining basic concepts, theories, and methods, cultivating students' basic design skills and practical abilities, and enabling them to have a certain understanding of bridge design and have a certain design ability. Tasks include:
(1) Understand the overall principles, general procedures, and relevant specifications and regulations of bridge design; Master the structural characteristics and design content of reinforced and prestressed concrete beam and arch bridges, and master the basic theories and calculation methods of beam and arch bridge design; Understand the basic theory and structural requirements of cable-stayed and suspension bridges; Understand the construction methods of various bridges.
(2) Have the practical ability to apply theoretical knowledge and specifications to the survey, planning, design, and construction of bridge engineering, and be able to handle practical engineering issues based on full study of specifications and documents.
(3) Understand the cutting-edge development of new materials, new structures, new technologies, and new processes in bridge engineering. Cultivate students' innovative awareness and challenge spirit.
