This course combines English-Chinese translation theory with practice and focuses on pragmatic translation (non-literary translation). It starts from the basic theory and concept of applied translation. Then, it also covers the competence and professional ethics of translators, including the ability to inquire about information technology, and the cultivation of translators' professional qualities. It aims to help students establish correct translation concepts and become familiar with the development history of applied translation and its relevant theories. Through the translation case studies and various translation practices, students will be familiar with the translation of various practical styles, and they can develop their ability to analyze and solve problems and help them adopt various translation strategies and tools proficiently to improve translation quality. The course also integrates revolution-enrichment culture of Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen ceramic culture and the content of transportation engineering translation, showcasing a true, three-dimensional and comprehensive image of China to the world.
