Before I quit my high-paying job to work for myself, I was the **youngest Senior Director in Walmart Engineering**. I earned the most promotions in the shortest time and climbed 6 levels in 4 years. **In this course, I've packaged everything I learned so you can quickly advance your engineering career.**
In this course, I'll tell you the things your manager wants to tell you, but can't. Either because it would make things awkward, or it would get them in trouble. These are things that I had to learn the hard way. This is the advice I wish I would have had years ago, that you will get now.
In this course, I am taking a whole year of One on Ones I would have with one of my reports and compressing them into an hour and a half for you. Plus I am adding a whole bunch of detail people aren't usually fully aware of about One on Ones.
After going through this course, you will:
- 👍🏽 Discuss various career options: startups vs Big Tech and IC vs manager.
- 📣 Demystify what good software engineers *actually* do
- 😳 Determine the critical soft skills you need to succeed as an engineer
- 🔟 Figure out how 10x engineers operate
- 📈 Learn the simple formula for promotion and how it relates to time and scope
- 🗣 Know what to do in 1:1s and performance reviews
BONUS documents (course cheatsheet, Louie's income progression, promotion guide cheatsheet) are included in the description of the last video!
