‘Sociology’ is a science of society that analyze various social phenomena scientifically. While talking about social movements, it is a fact of society. Movement is a global phenomenon. In this regard, it is mandatory to analyze and studying the social movements occurred in society. This course is explaining causes and consequences of social movements in contemporary era. This course also discuss about the theoretical framework of social movements towards the students of all social sciences. Moreover, this course explains the movement as a crucial factor of social change. A course 'Sociology of Social Movement' is designed for the students of Sociology, Political Science, History, Social Work, and literature. Major objectives of this course are: 1. To Introduce students about the concepts and theories of Social Movements. 2. To sensitize students about the various Indian social movements. 3. To make understand the role of social movements in social change. 4. To enable students to look at the social movement through scientifical and comparative perspective. and in a theoretical framework. This course cover most of the topics regarding social Movements like concepts and theories of social movements, Typologies of social movements, Ideologies – leadership – Mobilization and movements like Reform Movements, Revivalist Movements, Women’s movements, Working Class Movements, Tribal Movements, Dalit Movements, Peasant Movements Etc.
