The proposed course titled “Public Policy and Administration in India” serves as an essential idea about policies and workings of government. The proposed course provides various dimensions of Public Policy and Administration in India as it covers all core areas namely Public Policy, Decentralization, Budget, Citizen and Administration Interface and Social Welfare Policies. It also focuses on various policies such as RTI, Lokpal, Citizens Charter and E-Governance. The course facilitates students in understanding how the government machinery functions which will enhance their knowledge and come close to eradicate corruption, red-tapism , bring transparency in policies etc. It enhances student's skills to address and analyse how these policies will bring benefits and helps people to define constructive criticism such that any changes if required to be brought about. It also imparts knowledge which aids to address the needs of the weaker sections through MNREGA, Right to Education, Right to Food Security and National Health Mission.The course encourages and enhances the students who are the aspirants of becoming government servants by providing in depth understanding of various recent trends and various schemes brought by government like how it benefits the people of India. The course is very much relevant to undergraduate students who are studying arts and other social science disciplines.
