ABOUT THE COURSE: This course is intended for students who are enrolled in an undergraduate course in chemistry. The lectures and tutorials will be in Tamil and English. The assignments and exams will be in English. Topics are based on the B.Sc. Chemistry syllabus for Tamil Nadu.UNIT-I: CHEMISTRY OF PHENOLS AND AROMATIC ALCOHOLS.UNIT-II:CHEMISTRY OF CARBONYL COMPOUNDS.UNIT-III: CHEMISTRY OF CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND THEIR DERIVATIVES.UNIT-IV: CHEMISTRY OF NITROGEN COMPOUNDS.UNIT-V: GREEN CHEMISTRYINTENDED AUDIENCE: Undergraduates in the first, second year of studyPREREQUISITES: Anyone who has passed Std XII with chemistry as a subject and understands Tamil can enroll in this course. Students who have studied in Tamil medium will be the primary beneficiaries of this course.
