ABOUT THE COURSE:This course provides an in-depth exploration of natural disasters, focusing on their phenomena, mechanisms, and impacts on various landscapes such as mainland, hilly terrains, floodplains, and coastal regions. Students will delve into earthquakes, landslides, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, storms, and cyclones, examining the causes and effects of these events, associated environmental and depositional changes, and sedimentation patterns. Emphasis will be placed on understanding ground deformations, land-level changes, event recurrence intervals, and the assessment and mitigation of related hazards. This course aims to equip students with the skills necessary to analyze and manage natural disaster risks effectively.INTENDED AUDIENCE: PG students of Science and Engineering, Advance UG students too can take this coursePREREQUISITES:Basic knowledge of Earth Science or Natural Disasters is recommendedINDUSTRY SUPPORT: Any company involved in infrastructure development
