The course offers a comprehensive view of principles involved in Visual Communication. Drawing its theoretical underpinning from its major domain Communication, the course aims to impart the art of visual communication as a perfect combination of Signs, Visuals, Symbols, Pictures and Images. Especially communication through Semiotics is central to the development of visual communication in Indian tradition. Semiotics offer communication as a social interaction through messages emerging from pictures, paintings, drawings, sculpted models and animated motion of figures. They relate traditional, philosophical as well as contemporary social dimensions in various forms of visual communication. The dramatic shift of emphasis from the Western effects models to different mode of experience of culture and art form the core of the study of Visual communication. It not only explains the Western models of Communication but also offers indigenous models of Indian communication through various art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, figures, animated motions of images, etc.
