ABOUT THE COURSE: In this course fundamentals of coal cleaning, coal combustion, coal gasification, environmental pollution control from coal-based industries are discussed in details. For utilization of coal in any industrial application, initially coal are cleaned/beneficiated to meet the required quality for any particular application like pre designed boiler or gasified. Further details of coal combustion theory, burning characteristics evaluation, environmental pollution control from coal based thermal power plant, coal gasification will be discussed. Few lectures will discuss about the IGCC and coal bed methane.INTENDED AUDIENCE: UG & PG students of Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Fuel & Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering PREREQUISITES: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS AND COALINDUSTRY SUPPORT: NTPC, COAL INDIAL LIMITED, POWER AND STELL INDUSTRIES
