Artificial Lift

Indian Institute of Technology Madras and NPTEL via Swayam

Overview

ABOUT THE COURSE:The course contains the oil and gas pumping mechanism when the reservoir pressure is low, and it is required to enhance production using artificial means. The wellbore can have liquid loading problems, or fluid can have higher viscosity or corrosive chemicals, and the pumping of such wellbores needs special attention. Through this course, the students will learn different artificial lifts such as sucker rod pumps, electrical submersible pumps, gas lifts etc. After completing the course, the students will be able to size and select an artificial lift for a specific wellbore.INTENDED AUDIENCE: Senior Undergrad or PG Petroleum, Mechanical and Chemical engineering studentsPREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, completed at least 2nd year in Engineering.INDUSTRY SUPPORT: ONGC, Upstream, Baker Hughes, O&G companies
