Applied entomology deals with the dual nature (useful and harmful) of insects as applied to mankind. It provides the detailed information on economically important insect orders, including their characteristic features. It also deals with metamorphosis in insects, the ways in which beneficial insects like silkworm, honey bees and lac insects can be best exploited for the human welfare. In addition, this area of entomology focuses on the exploitation of predators and parasitoids for the management of harmful insects and pollinators for the improvement of crop yields.
