ABOUT THE COURSE:The course is specifically designed to attract experimentalists in the domain of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer. In Fluid Mechanics, the course will focus on flow visualization techniques both qualitatively and quantitatively. Techniques like Particle image velocimetry (PIV), shadowgraphy, Schlieren, hot-wire anemometry (HWA) will be discussed. In Heat Transfer techniques like Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) and IR Thermography will be discussed. Along with the theory, lab demonstration videos will be showcased for each of the techniques to offer a clear idea of the hardware and associated practicalities.INTENDED AUDIENCE: M.Tech and PhD students as well as professionals engaged in industries like Siemens, GE, NAL, GTRE etcPREREQUISITES: •Basic knowledge of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer •Some understanding of UG measurementsINDUSTRY SUPPORT: Industries requiring experimental research work e.g., aerospace industries, optics-based industries
