Relax and draw some low-stakes pumpkins and gourds to celebrate the season.
Sometimes the hardest part of making art is just getting yourself to sit down and get started. That’s why illustrator Dylan Mierzwinski loves using markers or brush pens: they’re easy to set up, and remind her of low-pressure childhood art projects (even though they can create stunning results!). In this 55-minute class—recorded using Zoom and featuring participation from the Skillshare community—Dylan will walk you through a relaxed drawing activity to help you carve out time for your own creativity.
While this session will be focused on fall-themed pumpkins and gourds, you can use the same process during any season to draw whatever is catching your eye. To start, Dylan will share how she finds reference photos and sketches her layout on the page so that she knows where she’s going once she starts coloring. Then, she’ll walk through the techniques you need to know to turn your reference photo into a marker-drawn masterpiece—no matter what colors you’re using. Throughout class, students who participated in the live session were also able to ask Dylan questions, so you’ll learn more tips for finding artistic inspiration and getting your vision on paper.
Perfect for artists of all ages and skill levels, you’ll walk away with a page full of cute pumpkins and gourds and a calm sense of creative accomplishment. No matter what your final drawing looks like, you’ll have spent some time drawing during this class—and that alone is worth feeling proud of.
