Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw characters like a pro?
Then this is the series for you.
In this three-part series, picture book illustrator Nina Rycroft shares tools and techniques to help bring your characters to life. In this class, you will learn about the basic structure of the head and how to draw the front view and side view of a character. You will then learn how to draw the head rotating. This class will help you transform your flat character drawings into three-dimensional looking forms. Â
In order to bring a character to life, a picture book illustrator must be able to ‘see’ the character as a three-dimensional form and then be able to draw the character from every possible angle. The challenge is making the character drawings look 'real’ and convincing, even characters that are complete fantasy.
__________
This class is will help you add more dimension to your characters, but in order to get the full benefit, I highly recommend taking all three classes.
How to Draw the Head from Every Angle: Part One. Learn how to see and then draw the basic structure of the head. Learn how to draw the front view and side view of a character, then learn how to draw the head rotating.
How to Draw the Head from Every Angle: Part Two. Using the front and side view drawings to make a 3D Sculpey model of your characters’ head. Use the model to draw your characters’ head tilting up and down.
How to Draw the Head from Every Angle: Part Three: Create a character reference sheet by drawing your characters’ head rotating on the X-Axis and the Y-Axis.
