Welcome to Fingerstyle for the Curious Guitarist! This is a complete fingerstyle guitar class for all levels of playing & improvising using fingerstyle & fingerpicking technique. Fingerstyle is a widely popular technique for playing guitar and can be used in many styles of music. Guitarists will often study this style alongside regular flatpicking playing.
Any kind of six-string guitar will work well for this class - electric, acoustic, or classical guitar.
The first few lessons will quickly get you up-to-speed with the terminology, such as our string names, reading TAB, and naming our picking fingers. Next, we'll use finger rolls, dyads, & triads (plus combinations of these) to play through chord progressions using only fingerpicking. We'll explore technique after technique of fingerstyle approaches to playing anything & everything without the use of a pick. We'll also work on traditional classical & Spanish techniques using open-handed strumming.
Everything in this class is in TAB form - no music reading required.
Many of the lessons will have a page number included in the title, which corresponds to the PDF attachment for that lesson (downloadable in the Projects & Resources section.) These are the tabs, rhythms, & text guitar lessons. Be sure to get the PDF.
