UPDATE
- I have uploaded a new lesson "Extra Tips #2" to help with optimizing the scene and get better lighting using HDRI.Â
- I have also attached the blender project file for you to check out the final result.

In this class, I will teach you how to design a minimal geometric scene in Blender 3D.
We will use simple geometric shapes and lay them out, light the scene, use a colour palette and shaders to set the materials and render a final image.
 The resources you need are:
- Blender which you can download from https://www.blender.org/
- https://colorhunt.co/ to choose a colour palette of your liking.
Â
This is a beginner’s tutorial, but it is expected that you have some basic knowledge of the Blender interface.
Follow this link for the official fundamentals playlist if you have never used the software.
I will guide you through the whole process of creating the scene as follows:
- Creating objects using simple modelling techniques.
- Laying out the scene and setting up the camera using guides.
- Lighting.
- Shading and materials setup.
- Rendering and final touches.

These images above are other versions of the scene where I made the rectangle frame thicker and increased the sub-surface scattering value on the material of the statue.
