Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education, Race in Science, Technology, & Medicine Series - Equity and Access in Digital Mental Health, 7/23/2021 12:00:00 AM - 7/23/2024 12:00:00 AM, Internet Enduring Material Sponsored by Stanford University School of Humanities and Sciences. Presented by the Program in Science, Technology and Society. This session includes a didactic lecture followed by Q&A and exchange between panel members. The discussion focuses on access to care and the use digital tools to provide care to those who are impacted by health disparities. The definition of bioethics will be reviewed, as well as ways in which bioethics can improve access to care. In the United States, one out of five adults experience a mental health issue in their lives. Many people who need care do not receive it, especially those in lower economical communities. Asians, Blacks and Hispanic and other minority populations do not have access to the same resources as those in affluent communities. Digital health technology may help with data collection and support for those who do not have access to care. This session will engage learners in the discussion about how digital health technology can help improve equity and access to mental health care and services/resources.
