Ptex is a hot texturing topic that is really gaining traction in a number of industries, largely in part because in using it, you can avoid the process of laying out UVs for your assets. This Mudbox and Maya tutorial will be spent mostly in Mudbox painting our textures. We'll first learn how to bring in our geometry and create materials as well as lighting to texture with. From here we'll walk step-by-step through creating the diffuse map for our creature. Next we'll create a specular and eventually incandescence map. To wrap things up, we'll learn how easy it is to get our Ptex textures over into Maya so they can be rendered. By the end of this Mudbox and Maya training, you'll feel comfortable and confident in your ability to use Ptex for both texturing and rendering using Mudbox and Maya. Software required: Maya 2015, Mudbox 2015.
