Game Creature Sculpting Fundamentals

via Pluralsight

Overview

Creature modeling is a complex intersection of functional building techniques and anatomical knowledge. This course will explore basic skills needed to sculpt and build muscle, learn anatomy, and create a creature sculpt for games from scratch.

Creatures can be one of the most enjoyable elements to make in game development, both fantastic and often exploratory to make. However, creatures can also be the junction between believably and fantasy that can be difficult to maintain. In this course, Game Creature Sculpting Fundamentals, you'll learn how to balance those two paradigms and learn how to apply human anatomy onto a fantastical creature. First, you’ll dive into techniques for sculpting muscle. Next, you'll explore how to manage different tool sets in ZBrush, while making a complex and nuanced creature without getting bogged down in micro detail. Finally, you'll discover some prop creation methods. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to create and design creatures that feel like they could truly exist and are fantastic to see. Software required: ZBrush.
