Topics covered include the interaction between the indigenous peoples and European settlers in the development of the colonies, origins and consequences of the American Revolution, the development of democracy and constitutional government in America, westward expansion, the early factory system, isolationism and American foreign policy, slavery and its impact on race relations, antebellum reforms, abolitionism and sectional conflict, causes and consequences of the Civil War and Reconstruction.
