This course will introduce students to modern geologic principles and use those as a framework for understanding the processes involved in shaping the earth through time, including the creation of the fossil record and the formation and deformation of rocks. Geologic factors associated with Earth's climate are explored in order to address environmental issues due to human activities causing global climate change and the associated social inequities.
