This lab will provide you with a basic understanding of using the AWS Database Migration Service. In this lab you will migrate data from a MySQL database running on an Amazon EC2 instance to an Amazon Aurora RDS instance. This lab has a longer startup time of at least 15 minutes to allow the lab resources to fully launch and initialize.

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Connect to a pre-created Amazon EC2 instance
  • Configure MySQL Server as your source database for migration
  • Connect to a pre-created Amazon Aurora instance
  • Migrate data from your MySQL server to your Aurora instance
  • Verify that your migration was successful

Prerequisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

  • Familiar with database principles and SQL
  • Comfortable using RDP to connect to a Windows server
  • Familiar with Amazon Aurora

  • Task 2: Configure and connect to your source MySQL database
  • Task 3: Use MySQL Workbench to connect to your RDS instance
  • Task 4: Migrate your source MySQL database to your Aurora instance using AWS Database Migration Service
