Dance Appreciation is a survey course that examines dance as a primary mode of human expression and communication with a focus on dance in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries CE. Through viewing live and recorded performances, discussions, and engaging in assigned readings, the student will place dance in a variety of cultural, artistic and historical contexts and examine issues of race, gender, and politics.
