Far too often organizations see donors through the distorted lens of retention rates and giving capacity. When it comes to fundraising, organizations must remember that relationships are a two-way street. The best fundraisers engage their donors in a multitude of ways: they build relationships, identify common interests, listen, and show gratitude.

Through this course, students will learn the ins-and-outs of fundraising from a seasoned fundraiser. Based on the instructor's book "How to Connect with Donors and Double the Money You Raise," the course will show successes and reveal failures that will expose the nuances of effective fundraising practices. Students will then apply the knowledge and stories learned from the class the practices of their own organizations' development teams.

I stumbled upon Philanthropy University on a social media advertisement, and did not know what to expect. I enrolled in a course that had a description which spelled out skills that I felt I needed to develop for my position. In the Fundraising: Connecting with Donor course, I learned incredible tools and skill sets that were both practical and relevant. The assignments, discussions, assessments, and learning material were combined to make an impacting course. The techniques and tools are not only suited to my current NPO/NGO position, but are suited for life in general. I am walking away with skills that will help me connect with clients, donors, and people in my network alike. I would highly recommend this course.
