Overview

This is primarily aimed at anyone who has attempted learning English and want a second chance at it, and/or additional practice. This course will focus on the theme of travel to develop and build basic English skills and may already be at A1/A2 level. We will leverage Generative AI tools to help practice and receive feedback. At the end of this course, you will be able to recognize and accurately use an expanded range of everyday vocabulary in context, construct grammatically correct sentences and short paragraphs using fundamental grammar rules, understand and articulate simple ideas effectively, and demonstrate increased confidence in listening to and speaking in English through practical, everyday interactions.

Syllabus

  • Getting Started and Verb Tense for Travel
    • At the end of this module, you will be able to construct grammatically correct sentences and short paragraphs using fundamental grammar rules. You will be able to identify and correctly us the simple present tense, present continuous tense, and the simple past tense.
  • Reading About Travel
    • At the end of this module, you will be able to recognize and accurately use an expanded range of everyday vocabulary in context. You will be able to quickly look over a text to identify the main topic and purpose before reading in detail. You'll be able to quickly read through a text to grasp the general idea and identify key points without focusing on specific details. You will be able to search through a text to locate specific information or keywords related to a particular question or topic. You will be able to identify and explain supporting details that reinforce or clarify the main idea of a text. Finally, you will be able to identify the main idea of a text or passage by summarizing the most important points or arguments presented by the author.
  • Listening & Speaking About Travel
    • At the end of this module, you will be able to understand and articulate simple ideas effectively. You will be able to identify key vocabulary related to travel by listening to a short conversation or travel-related audio. You will be able to discuss and summarize the main ideas of travel-themed dialogue or audio. You will be able to answer comprehension questions related to a travel audio, demonstrating your ability recognize specific information such as dates, times, and locations.
  • Writing About Travel
    • At the end of this module, you will be able to demonstrate increased confidence in writing in English through practical, everyday interactions. You will be able to describe current travel activities in the form of a letter using appropriate grammar skills. You will be able to create dialogues that demonstrate their ability to ask for and give directions using clear, concise language and the appropriate tense. Finally, you will be able to write short paragraphs and dialogues using appropriate grammar skills.
