Overview

The Autodesk® Revit® software is a powerful Building Information Modeling (BIM) program that works the way architects think. The program streamlines the design process through the use of a central 3D model, where changes made in one view update across all views and on the printable sheets. This class is designed to teach you the Autodesk Revit functionality as you would work with it throughout the design process. You begin by learning about the user interface and basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools. Then you learn design development tools including how to model walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, stairs and more. Finally, you learn the processes that take the model to the construction documentation phase.Since building projects are extremely complex, the Autodesk Revit software is also complex. The objective of the Autodesk® Revit® 2018 Architecture: Fundamentals classe is to enable students to create full 3D architectural project models and set them up in working drawings. This student guide focuses on basic tools that the majority of users need.Topics CoveredUnderstanding the purpose of Building Information Management (BIM) and how it is applied in the Autodesk Revit software.Navigating the Autodesk Revit workspace and interface.Working with the basic drawing and editing tools.Creating Levels and Grids as datum elements for the model.Creating a 3D building model with walls, curtain walls, windows, and doors.Adding floors, ceilings, and roofs to the building model.Creating component-based and custom stairs.Adding component features, such as furniture and equipment.Setting up sheets for plotting with text, dimensions, details, tags, and schedules.Creating details.PrerequisitesAn understanding of architectural terminology is an assetCourse OutlineChapter 1: Introduction to BIM and Autodesk Revit1.1 BIM and Autodesk Revit1.2 Overview of the Interface1.3 Starting Projects1.4 Viewing CommandsPractice 1a Open and Review a ProjectChapter 2: Basic Sketching and Modify Tools2.1 Using General Sketching Tools2.2 Editing ElementsPractice 2a Sketch and Edit Elements2.3 Working with Basic Modify ToolsPractice 2b Work with Basic Modify Tools2.4 Working with Additional Modify ToolsPractice 2c Work with Additional Modify ToolsChapter 3: Setting Up Levels and Grids3.1 Setting Up LevelsPractice 3a Set Up Levels3.2 Creating Structural Grids3.3 Adding Columns3.4 Linking and Importing CAD FilesPractice 3b Add Structural Grids and ColumnsChapter 4: Modeling Walls4.1 Modeling Walls4.2 Modifying WallsPractice 4a Model the Exterior ShellPractice 4b Add Interior WallsChapter 5: Working with Doors and Windows5.1 Inserting Doors and WindowsPractice 5a Insert Doors and Windows5.2 Loading Door and Window Types from the Library5.3 Creating Additional Door and Window SizesPractice 5b Load and Create Door TypesChapter 6: Working with Curtain Walls6.1 Creating Curtain Walls6.2 Adding Curtain GridsPractice 6a Work with Curtain Walls6.3 Working with Curtain Wall Panels6.4 Attaching Mullions to Curtain GridsPractice 6b Add Mullions and Panels to Curtain WallsChapter 7: Working with Views7.1 Setting the View Display7.2 Duplicating ViewsPractice 7a Duplicate Views and Set the View Display7.3 Adding Callout ViewsPractice 7b Add Callout Views7.4 Creating Elevations and SectionsPractice 7c Create Elevations and SectionsChapter 8: Adding Components8.1 Adding Components8.2 Modifying ComponentsPractice 8a Add ComponentsChapter 9: Modeling Floors9.1 Modeling FloorsPractice 9a Model Floors9.2 Creating Shaft Openings9.3 Creating Sloped FloorsPractice 9b Create Shaft Openings and Sloped FloorsChapter 10: Modeling Ceilings10.1 Modeling Ceilings10.2 Adding Ceiling FixturesPractice 10a Model Ceilings and Add Ceiling Fixtures10.3 Creating Ceiling SoffitsChapter 11: Modeling Roofs11.1 Modeling Roofs11.2 Creating Roofs by FootprintPractice 11a Create Roofs by Footprint11.3 Establishing Work Planes11.4 Creating Roofs by ExtrusionPractice 11b Create Roofs by ExtrusionChapter 12: Modeling Stairs, Railings, and Ramps12.1 Creating Component Stairs12.2 Modifying Component StairsPractice 12a Create Component Stairs12.3 Working with RailingsPractice 12b Modify and Add Railings12.4 Creating RampsPractice 12c Create RampsChapter 13: Creating Construction Documents13.1 Setting Up Sheets13.2 Placing and Modifying Views on SheetsPractice 13a Create Construction Documents13.3 Printing SheetsChapter 14: Annotating Construction Documents14.1 Working with Dimensions Modifying DimensionsPractice 14a Work with Dimensions14.2 Working With Text14.3 Adding Detail Lines and SymbolsPractice 14b Annotate Construction Documents14.4 Creating LegendsPractice 14c Create LegendsChapter 15: Adding Tags and Schedules15.1 Adding TagsPractice 15a Add Tags15.2 Adding Rooms and Room TagsPractice 15b Add Rooms and Room Tags15.3 Working with SchedulesPractice 15c Work with SchedulesChapter 16: Creating Details16.1 Setting Up Detail Views16.2 Adding Detail Components16.3 Annotating DetailsPractice 16a Create a Detail Based on a Section CalloutPractice 16b Create a Detail in a Detail View16.4 Keynoting and Keynote LegendsPractice 16c Create an Additional DetailPractice 16d Create a Detail Based on a CAD File
