It was a very helpful and innovative course for beginner who are new to the NHS and want to know about research in the UK. It has been an eye opener for someone like me who did not have much exposure to research back in my medical school days. I have understood a lot of information in regards to research and ethics and committees involved. A very helpful course

As an Aussie Consumer involved in cancer trials I found this course a great refresher. Understandably a little was UK specific (eg regulations) however the vast majority of the course by far would be applicable in any country. I have recommended it to many of my colleagues.

I've found this course to be very helpful in giving a brief explanation about clinical research. The course has opened my eyes to different aspects of clinical research that I had not been aware of. The course is perfect for someone who is starting a medical or science degree. However, it is not only limited to students. Anyone interested in the study of clinical research will attain knowledge that will give them insight on the subject.

This gave me a good bases of understanding clinical research.

Very informative and written well, with a good mix of written and audio learning. The check your knowledge quizzes were useful and links to further reading has given me options to develop my knowledge further.

Really enjoyed this course! Good mix of historical context, basic methodology and good examples 'in practice. I thought the mock REC exercise and the exercise around media headlines about research in particular were great.

Very interesting and very useful for all those involved or looking to get involved in clinical research.

The course is well organized, presented in simple manner, full of current developments and very much interested. Few new developments in clinical research such as personalized clinical care/ considering genetic make up in future clinical research and practical tips for tranlating research findings into practice are fascinating. The practical, real world examples given throughout the course helped understand the concepts and removes boredom. There are lot of positive and engouraging aspects in the course. The only thing which is quite negative is the high charges for getting the completion certificate. Overall, in the technical point of view the course is very useful for young/ early level researchers.

I have completed this course with the one exception of the final test. In order to complete the course I am asked to pay £62 so that I can receive a certificate which says I have finished the course.
The price is silly and the practice is poor.
This is a sad way to finish the course. The presentation of ideas , which was good, and the variety of approaches, which were wide is spoiled by a mismanaged completion procedure.
I know more than I did. I am content with that.
Asking me to pay £62 to prove to the world I have followed the course is silly.
This morning I received 8 separate e.mails from Future Learn. Completely over the top and makes me less inclined to do any further work with them.

I would like to say thank you to all the team who participated in the design of the course. It was very well designed and structured. I have learned a lot and hope that I will be more involved in a clinical research professionally and maybe even as a patient. The course raised my awareness of clinical trial and also inspired me to investigate and learn more about the subject. Thank you once again for a fantastic opportunity to study the Clinical Research through the internet. I will recommend this course to professionals and non professionals to learn more and raise the awareness of Clinical Research. It really is worth to try and study more.

Great Course!Learnt a lot about Medical and Clinical Research, Funding and the different groups involved and how charities work with co-funders and other national and international funders. It was good to know the challenges faced but still protocols have to be followed.I also learnt on what Research means and the expectations of Funding Groups or Sponsors.I also looked at a couple of research papers. Some good points that there is no limit to funding for Research because there is always others working maybe on the same topic hence the Researcher has to be competetive and have the best proposal. The aim for all is to improve healthcare.

I enjoyed the course a lot.
I am new to research so every little thing related to it sounds informative and giving explanation to me.
I enjoyed the layout of the course, the pace of it, watching videos and especially the fact that there is additional information available.
Also, I loved the fact that you can do it at your own pace, whenever you find time.
Yes, I was disappointed with the fact that one has to pay to have a certificate issued; however, my manager did not insist on me getting it so I was very happy.
I would definitely advise the course to anyone interested in research. Thank you for a marvellous opportunity to learn.

An interesting course, accessible to both health are professionals and the general public. It provides a thorough insight into the research process for those wishing to pursue a career in research, participate in research or understand the process of approving new treatments.

I particularly enjoyed the more interactive aspects of the course, including quizzes and interactive activities based on Research Ethics Committees and media coverage of research. I gave this course 4 stars instead of 5, as I would like to have explored the statistical analysis of data.

I feel this is a great course for everyone involved or interested in clinical research from healthcare professionals and investigators to patient representatives.

I was particularly attracted by a ‘layered’ design of this course: although it contains very well explained basic information about clinical research, there is an opportunity to investigate a topic further by obtaining more information from the ‘’See Also’’ section.

Interactive communication with educators and peers makes the course even more attractive and motivating.
