Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education, Children's Week 2022: Innovation to Improve Pediatric Health Equity (Recorded), 8/22/2022 12:00:00 AM - 8/22/2025 12:00:00 AM,

Internet Enduring Material sponsored by Stanford University School of Medicine. Presented by Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

The 2022 Children's Week Virtual Conference aims to share innovations and advancements on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily pediatric practice. Designed for general pediatricians, family physicians, pediatric sub-specialists, and any pediatric provider interested in the care of children, the engaging sessions will be comprised of case-based discussions and Q&A.

Children and families, especially those who are low-income and nonwhite, face a variety of new and worsening health challenges and are enduring more food insecurity and homelessness as a result of COVID-19 job losses, and reduced access to playgrounds and sports programs may have contributed to a rise in childhood obesity over the past 18 months.  In addition, as climate change fuels a more prolonged and more intense wildfire season, children in poorer households and school districts are more likely to be exposed to the unfiltered, smoky air that exacerbates asthma.

In this session, Dr. Lisa Chamberlain and Dr. Baraka Floyd will discuss the three-pronged approach being utilized to promote child and maternal health equity by advocating for families in the community, advancing policy changes, and supporting research into health inequities. New this year is a health equity showcase, where participants are invited to share their innovations to improve pediatric health equity.
