Placement Level: Eligibility for MATH-542 or higher-level math course as determined by the Chaffey College placement process. An introductory course focusing on aggregate economic analysis. Topics include: market systems, aggregate measures of economic activity, macroeconomic equilibrium, money and financial institutions, monetary and fiscal policy, international economics, and economic growth. U.S. economic systems and institutions and their origins will be examined including: theories and policies concerning economic growth and development, business cycles, unemployment, full employment, inflation, taxation, deficits, the national debt, public choice, money, banking, interest rates, international trade and finance, and competing economic views (e.g. Classical, New Classical, Keynesian, Monetarism, Sustainable Growth Theories, and Human Scale Economics).
