Traces the cultural, racial, economic, literary, and political history of Mexican Americans, in the general context of U.S. History, to 1877. Covers the scope of U.S. history to 1877, analyzing the role that Chicanos have played in the United States and the changes that role has undergone. Critical, analytical written work is the primary means of evaluation. Satisfies U.S. History requirement. HIST 21A, HIST 21AH, ETHN 21A, and ETHN 21AH are cross-listed courses. Students may enroll in one course for credit, but not more than one. May be offered in a distance-learning format. This course meets the Cabrillo College multicultural studies requirement.
