This course presents basic argumentation theory including identifying fallacies in reasoning and language, testing evidence and sources, advancing a reasoned position, and defending and refuting arguments, and ethical responsibilities of advocacy. Methods of critical inquiry and advocacy are emphasized via the written preparation and oral presentation of cases for and against propositions or points of view through debate and public address.
