The Basic ECG Interpretation course is designed to introduce students to basic cardiac dysrhythmias. This course is designed to prepare students in the prehospital and allied health professions to perform and interpret basic rhythm strips. This course will explain how the heart functions, a basic understanding of ECG graph paper, how to perform a 3-lead ECG, and what the ECG means. This course will build foundational knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, electrophysiology, and pathophysiologic concepts, and use a step-by-step approach to developing proficiency in basic dysrhythmia interpretation. This course will introduce basic concepts of 12-Lead ECG. This course is a pre-requisite for the paramedic program.
