Learn about Nutrition, Heart Disease and Diabetes with the University of Wageningen
This is an in-depth review of the free-to-audit course “Nutrition, Heart Disease and Diabetes” with leading experts from the University of Wageningen.
When you get to the end of a course and feel the sadness of parting and wish this course could go on and on, that means only one thing: the “wow” of the course.
I am talking here about my feelings with the most wonderful course I have taken recently, which is the Nutrition, Heart Disease and Diabetes course from a leading, empowered university, which is the Dutch University of Wageningen.
My knowledge of it increased through one documentary about “Europe’s secrets: the future of agriculture and food”, which showed how much this university offers to its country and the world to develop smart agriculture. One of its distinguished cadres appeared to explain the subject, Dr Ernst Vanden Ende, head of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at Wageningen University. Which increased my respect and appreciation for the efforts of this university and for all its members.
About the course
As for the course, it focused on three axes: nutrition, heart disease and diabetes. Everything related to these axes was divided into five modules, according to the approved drawing of the course, as follows: in the middle, the name of the course “Nutrition, Heart Disease and Diabetes” and surrounded by related topics:
The information included in the course is many, varied, and very valuable. What distinguishes this course is the number of surveys at the beginning, middle and at the end, and this also indicates the extent to which those who conduct it are interested in the opinion of the participants and learners, which will enable them to improve and develop it continuously.
During the course, I was taken on an interesting journey to many reliable scientific websites where I was able to download important books and references. I also subscribed to these sites to follow up on all that is new.
The course began by explaining the various forms of cardiovascular disease, the difference between risk factors and risk markers, and how they can affect the types of cardiovascular disease.
Then, the second module took care of the nutrition guide and the third one explained diabetes and its aspects.
In the fourth module, genetics, and here comes the role of creativity in education. As difficult as the subject is, it was divided and explained in a smooth and good way, indicating mastery and competence.
Finally, the cornerstone of the course in general is “Nutrition Strategy to Reduce the Risk of Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes”, the total diet approach.
Key Takeaways and Conclusion
The two most important questions asked were:
- How can all this knowledge be translated into practice?
- Who is in charge of promoting healthy eating? And what could be your role in this?
And to answer that: one of my goals taking this course was to provide advice in a scientifically correct manner, as well as the responsibility we all bear as health practitioners or as learners towards society.
In conclusion, I can say that when the work is done with all sincerity, it reaches perfection.
Thus was the Nutrition, Heart Disease, and Diabetes course, which was conducted by highly qualified people: the best professors of the Dutch University of Wageningen.
For me, the benefit that I carry with me is great and I have benefited on a personal level. I’m working on spreading this benefit to most of my own pharmacy reviewers. I found a good response, especially when I mentioned to them the reliable source of this information, which is this esteemed university.
What’s next
I loved the course and wished it would continue, but because every beginning has an end, I finished it, and I am looking forward to more courses. I have enrolled in two more courses so far, and I have an overwhelming desire to continue. The first one is Nutrition and Cancer which I completed about a week ago. The second one is Nutrition and Health: Human Microbiome.
All thanks, appreciation, and respect to everyone who contributed to the production of this course in its format and the most wonderful content, and I mention here the honorable professors:
I wish them continued progress and prosperity.
Greetings to all of you.
