Futurelearn Partners with Pearson VUE for Proctored Testing
FutureLearn announces a partnership with Pearson VUE to offer local testing in order to earn Statements of Attainment in some of its courses.
UK-based MOOC provider FutureLearn, which earlier this year reached a landmark one million learners, announced a partnership with Pearson VUE, a division of the education giant Pearson. Pearson VUE operates a network of secure test centers in 180 countries. The idea is that for some courses, Futurelearn can issue certifications based on students taking a proctored (that is, overseen) exam in person at a local Pearson VUE testing center.
Futurelearn CEO Simon Nelson notes that many users take courses to enhance their careers, and want a highly-credible identity-verified credential. Simon says:
Pearson VUE will help us deliver a robust testing solution for learners wishing to take exams as part of their experience with FutureLearn – Simon Nelson
Futurelearn will select specific courses that require in-person testing in order to earn a Statement of Attainment. Initial courses include:
• The Secret Power of Brands
• Caring for Vulnerable Children
• Introduction to Forensic Science
The Statement of Attainment will be a printed certificate that you will receive, branded with the name of the university offering the course. Note that you can still take the courses for free if you are not interested in obtaining a Statement of Attainment.
