EdX Co-CEO Adam Medros Leaves the Company
A year and a half after becoming co-CEO of edX with Anant Agarwal, Adam Medros is leaving the company.
Last week, Adam Medros announced on his personal social media accounts that he is leaving edX. Adam was co-CEO of edX along with the founder Anant Agarwal, as well as President of the company.
I’m excited to share the news that I’m joining the team at @embarkvet as COO to help them continue to scale. The past 3+ years at @edXOnline have been an amazing experience and I’m so proud of the growth and transformation of the organization. https://t.co/WhXIsDgI6r

Adam joined edX as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President back in October 2017, following a 13-year stint at Tripadvisor (it’s like Class Central, but for travel), where he was Senior Vice President of Global Product and a member of the executive team. In late 2019, he was promoted to co-CEO.
Adam will now be joining Embark, a “leader in dog genetics,” as COO. So far, edX hasn’t made an official announcement about Medros departure.
Anant Agarwal is the last founding CEO of a major MOOC platform still leading the company.
Last year, FutureLearn’s founding CEO Simon Nelson announced that he was leaving the company at the end of 2020. This year, we learned that he joined Nord Anglia Education, a premium international schools organisation as Group Digital Director.
FutureLearn has yet to announce a new CEO.
