On this three-week course, you’ll learn how to use Mandarin phrases designed to help you navigate Taiwan and enjoy some of the country’s most popular attractions.

Learn from experts in Mandarin as a foreign language from National Chiao Tung University

Designed by academics with expertise in teaching Chinese as a second language, you’ll increase your understanding of vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar using videos and quizzes.

With a focus on practical Chinese, you’ll build up a bank of useful phrases and contextual understanding that will give you the confidence to try out your conversational Chinese in real-life situations.

Whether you’d enjoy spending time at the Museum of Audio, or would rather explore the beauty of Orchid Island, you’ll learn to communicate your intended travel plans using situational videos to help you understand key grammar and vocabulary in practice.

Gain practical travel skills, from room booking to travelling on the high speed rail

You’ll be guided through practical and useful scenarios that will give you further confidence when travelling around Taiwan.

Learning how to book a room online and how to plan a trip on the high speed rail, you’ll open up the possibilities of where you can travel and stay during your visit.

By the end of this course, you’ll have gained a range of useful phrases that will help you experience all Taiwan has to offer as a tourist. You’ll have improved your grammar skills and pronunciation, making communication easier and helping you carry out day to day activities in Mandarin Chinese.

This intermediate course is designed for learners who have already achieved level 1 according to the “Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL)” specification, which is equivalent to CEFR-A1.

With a focus on travelling and tourism, it is particularly suited to learners planning on visiting Taiwan.
